Neglected pensioner Elsie (Brenda Blethyn) finds an unexpected ally in her younger neighbour Colleen (Andrea Riseborough). Over time, a friendship grows but Elsie’s resentful, guilt-ridden son stirs up tensions that bring shocking consequences.
